Random thoughts: The value of craft in an AI driven industry

I am a great lover of quality boots and clothing. I like to source things second hand and I stay away from fast fashion. The has drawn me towards many brands like Redwing which offer a great quality of craftsmanship. I appreciate that they are made in the US. I appreciate that a lot of work has gone into making them and I appreciate that they’ll last me for years to come.

While throwing on my boots this morning it got me thinking about what the future of quality craftsmanship looks like in the digital space. Speed to delivery keeps on increasing with new AI supporting workflows and UI can be designed by machine with very input from a ‘craftsman’. Will we start to see greater value placed on products and services that have been crafted by ‘hand’? Put together by human skill over being generated quickly by machine?
